Proud Teacher Moment

This is one of my former students Hannah Bradford.  I taught Hannah in the 5th grade at Shawmut Elementary.  Hannah now has a degree from Auburn University in Marine Biology.  This week she was the teacher during our trip to the Floating Classroom on West Point Lake.  So proud of Hannah!

It was a gorgeous day for a field trip.  The students were able to participate in many activities on land and on the Floating Classroom. What a great learning resource!

5th Grade Students Make an Impression!

5th Graders are participating in a unit on Forensic Science.  Students enjoyed some tasty testing  making impressions using sweet treats and then measuring and examining the evidence.

Next, they examined tire tracks to find evidence.

Point University Student Teachers Visit CCATS Classroom

Point University student teachers Mendy and Wendy Webb visited the CCATS classroom to teach activities about the water cycle.  It was a fun learning experience.  Students will visit West Point Lake's Floating Classroom next week for more water experiments.

 A HUGE THANK YOU to Jonas Walker and Mrs. Cynthia Gaither for donating the original Mouse Trap Game to our classroom.  Students will study Rube Goldberg contraptions and will enjoy using this resource!  







 

Learning to Work Together

Day 1 in CCATS was a great time to learn to work together in small groups.  We had a great time with the Cup Challenge.

Welcome to the 2015-16 school year.  I just know this is going to be a great year of adventure.  I will get a class schedule, supply list, and information to your student the week of August 17th.  Classes will begin on a Week A/Week B schedule beginning September 1st.

4th Graders Visit the Georgia Aquarium

It was a great day of adventure at the Georgia Aquarium.  Students were able to see many of the animals we have studied.  They even got to touch a few of them!

The Mystery of the Missing Lunch

Fifth Graders completed our unit in Forensic Science by completing a mytery using chemistry to test a mysery powder.  These investigators are working hard to find the culprit.

The third grade CCATS students will travel to Point University on Tuesday, October 7th to partipate in creative art centers.  Please do not forget to sign permission and return.

1 Glue Stick

Colored pencils (no crayons)

1 Pack of pencils (12-18) to share

2 Black Sharpies – Fine tip

1 pack of white copy paper (8 ½ x 11)

USB flash drive – small memory 4GB is plenty

Girls – Disinfectant Wipes and One box of Small Ziploc bags

Boys – Hand SOAP (not sanitizer) and One box of Large Ziploc bags

*Please purchase off brands!  The cheapo bags, soap, and disinfectants work great as long as the bags zip closed.
